Early Resident Dies at Morrison

Mrs. Robert McCurdy, one of the early residents of Grundy county, died at Morrison Wednesday afternoon January 8th. Heart trouble was the cause. She had been in failing health during all of the past year. She was 71 years old.

Funeral services conducted by the pastor of the Presbyterian church were held at Morrison Friday afternoon. Burial was in the cemetery at Reinbeck.

Mary Reisinger was born in Hancock county, Ohio, August 30, 1858. At an early age her parents made the trip from Ohio into Indiana by ox team and when she was a girl of eighteen they continued their westward journey into Iowa, settling in Grundy county. For many years her father farmed north of Reinbeck and he hauled material for several of the new buildings when the town of Reinbeck was started.

She was married to Robert McCurdy July 17, 1878, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Talmadge, a Methodist circuit rider. To them nine children were born, of whom six are living and with the husband and father survive her. These are Mrs. J. P. Petersen, Mrs. Emil Olson, Mrs. Peter Plaehn and Mrs. Herbert Springer, of Reinbeck, and Mrs. Lee McIntyre and William McCurdy, of Morrison. There are thirty-two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
