Mrs. Alex Green passed away at her home in Reinbeck early Wednesday morning, Feb. 29, 1928, only a few days past her seventieth birthday after weeks of intense suffering and following a long continued illness. Mrs. Green has been in poor health for several years, her ailment being finally discovered to be an internal cancer. Her condition became serious early in the winter and since that time it was known that she could never regain strength, but the family and friends had expected that she would live for some time. The last few weeks, however, she suffered greatly and was steadily failing in strength until the end came. Her daughter was called from Montana some weeks ago and was with her during her last illness.
Mrs. Green was born in Marquette county, Wisconsin, February 20, 1858. Her childhood was spent in Wisconsin and at Poynette, in that state, she was married in 1879 to W. M. Cordiner. This union was blessed with one child, Mrs. Nettie Wagner, of Billings, Mont.
Sept. 30, 1891, she again married, to Alex Green at Toledo, Iowa. Since that time they have lived in Reinbeck and here were born two children, Mrs. Iva Koht and Leon A. Green, who also survive. Four grandchildren are also left to mourn her death, together with the husband and three children.
Mrs. Green lived in Reinbeck for forty-five years. Thirty years ago she affiliated with the Congregational church and since that time has taken an active part in church work. She was a home woman, devoted to her family and to the constantly growing circle of her friends and her death will be a loss to many.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Gange Funeral Home conducted by Rev. L. Emigholz.
