Matilda Laurane Bartels
Matilda Laurane Bartels was born April 15, 1916, and died Oct. 20, 1927, aged 11 years, 6 months and 5 days.
When Laurane was three years old she had a very serious sick spell which left her a constant sufferer from convulsive epilepsy, the attacks sometimes lasting for hours. She was unusually patient, and never uttered a complaint during the eight long years of suffering.
After her last serious sickness which lasted for ten days, she quietly slipped away without a word or struggle, leaving her body with her family, who were by her bedside while she departed for the home where there is no suffering nor pain.
There are left, the bereaved father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Bartels, one brother, Everet, and two sisters, Jeanette and Berdene, all at home, besides many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 on Monday, Oct. 24th, and in the First Baptist church, of Grundy Center, at 2 p.m. The body was laid to rest in our local cemetery to await the coming of the Lord Jesus, in Resurrection power and great glory.
The family wishes to convey their hearty thanks to the many friends and neighbors who have been so kind to them in this time of sorrow and bereavement.
Beside the loyal sympathetic friends here in Grundy Center, a good many came from out of town, among whom were: Mrs. K. Dirksen, Madison, So. Dak.; Mrs. W. W. Schultz, Sioux Falls, So. Dak.; Ed. G. Bartels, Mrs. B. W. Feldman, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Kruger, Mrs. Geo. Melot and daughter, all of George, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Feldman, Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Wagner, Miss Phyllis Wagner, Mr. and Mrs. C.
