Mrs. George Moore Dies At Eldora

Pioneer Grundy Resident Stricken With Apoplexy and Dies Suddenly

Mrs. George Moore died quite suddenly at her home in Eldora last Friday morning following a second stroke of apoplexy. The second stroke followed the first very closely.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Leatherman were held at the Ivester church Sunday afternoon. Interment was made by the side of the husband in the Sheller cemetery in Melrose township.

Mrs. Moore came to Grundy county in the spring of 1866. That was 61 years ago. She made her home continually on the Moore farm in Melrose township until two years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Moore moved to Eldora. Mr. Moore died quite suddenly also from a stroke of apoplexy at his Eldora home last February. Mrs. Moore had been an invalid for many years.

Mrs. Moore was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania, 82 years ago last February. She removed to Illinois with her folks when she was still quite small. Here she and Mr. Moore were married in 1864 while Mr. Moore was in the service of the Union army. A year after the close of the war in 1866 Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to Grundy county. They bought a farm here which they continued to own up to the time of their death.

There were three children in this family, two of whom are still living. They are Mrs. Kate Strickler and Miss Eunice Moore. The latter made her home with her mother.
