Jacob R. Strickler was born Sept. 12, 1833, in Franklin county, Penn. He passed away Aug. 16, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif., aged 93 years, 11 months and 4 days.

When about 12 years of age he with his parents emigrated from Pennsylvania to Carroll county, Illinois.

He was united in marriage to Ann Maria Stine, January 15th, 1857. They lived in Carroll county until Oct. 31, 1881. While on a visit to his aged parents in Grundy county, Iowa, his faithful companion took sick and died, and was laid to rest in the Alice cemetery.

He returned to Mt. Carroll, remaining there for three years. Following this he returned to Iowa, making his home with his brother, David, and family, to help care for his aged parents. In August, 1901, he went to Colorado Springs, Colo., where he spent four years, following which he spent three years in Los Angeles, Calif. In May, 1908, he came to the home of his brother, David, helping care for him until he passed away Sept. 5th, 1912.

He then returned to Los Angeles where he resided until he passed away August 16th, after suffering for 18 months with a broken hip.

He was tenderly cared for by his niece, Miss Kate Strickler, who had been with him for 11 years. She was assisted in caring for him during his affliction by her sister, Maggie.

He was the last of a family of eight children.

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 from the Alice church, Rev. E. E. Heltibridle, of this city, officiating at the request of the deceased.
