William Place, for many years among the earlier settlers of Grundy county, passed away at a hospital at Rapid City, So. Dak., on Tuesday of this week of Bright's disease of which he had been a sufferer for many years.

Mr. Place left here with his family about forty years ago and located at Rapid City, which has since been his home. He was between 70 and 80 years of age. His wife died several years ago in Dakota and was brought here for burial. He leaves two sons and one daughter. Mrs. John Cox, of this city, is a half-sister.

Mr. Place at one time owned a farm two miles northeast of here.

The remains are expected to arrive here this afternoon accompanied by the surviving children and burial will take place in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery where the wife and mother is buried as well as other relatives.
