Mrs. Thomas Dies at Old Age

Mrs. Thomas, Oscar Thomas' mother, died at her home in Grundy Center early yesterday morning. She was in her eightieth year. Old age was the cause of her death. Mrs. Thomas had been a resident of the county for upwards of forty years. The family resided on a farm east of Morrison before they moved to Grundy Center several years ago. The husband died here in 1911.

There are two surviving sons, Oscar of this city, who has been living with his mother, and Rev. Otis Thomas from Kansas City. A daughter, Mrs. Stivers, lives in Spokane, Washington.

The date for the funeral has not been fixed for the reason that the daughter is coming and relatives here do not know when she will arrive. The funeral will probably be on Saturday. Mrs. Thomas' obituary will appear in the next issue of The Register.

Obituary of Mrs. A. Thomas

Mrs. A. Thomas was born at Sunburg, Ohio, Jan. 12, 1848, and passed away at her home in Grundy Center, Iowa, Feb. 23, 1927.

Mrs. Thomas came to Grundy county in 1875 and has lived here since that time.

In early life she united with the M.E. church and has been a faithful and consistent member to the time of her death. To serve others in time of sickness and sorrow was her delight and her service was much appreciated by those to whom she ministered. For the past few years Mrs. Thomas has been in delicate health, which together with failing sight made her long for the other country where all suffering and sorrow is forever banished.

On March 7, 1867, she was united in marriage to Mr. Thomas, who passed away several years ago.

Many friends and relatives will miss this kindly soul from their midst, and all unite in tenderest sympathy to the son and daughters who are left. They are: Oscar Thomas, of this city; Rev. Otis Thomas, of Kansas City; Mrs. Libbie Stivers, Omak, Wash.; and Mrs. T. H. Litzkow, Andover, So. Dak., all of whom were present at the funeral held Monday afternoon, Feb. 28th, at the home, Rev. F. O. Winslow of the Methodist church officiating.
