Obituary of H. A. Sweet

Henry Alden Sweet was born in New York state August 20, 1844. He died at Winnebago, Minn., Feb. 5, 1927, at the age of 83 years.

He came to Iowa in his early teens and was married to Miss Eliza Jane Burright in March, 1868.

Eleven children were born to this union. Solomon preceded his father in death in 1897.

About eleven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Sweet moved to a farm near Winnebago, Minn., making his home with his youngest son, Fred.

Besides his wife and children, Mr. Sweet is survived by two sisters and twenty grandchildren.

His children are: Emma Nielsen, Hot Springs, Idaho; Maggie Hodge, Winnebago, Minn.; Caroline H. Stuck, Grundy Center, Iowa; Mae Walker, Sioux City, Iowa; Pearl Palmer, Ft. Dodge, Iowa; Laura Arelan, David City, Neb.; Nora Davidson, Amarillo, Texas; Jess Sweet, Granada, Minn.; Fred Sweet, Winnebago, Minn.; George Sweet, Marshalltown, Iowa. His sisters are Mrs. Laura Henning, Omaha, Mrs. Julia Atherton, Eugene, Ore.

The remains were brought to Grundy Center where funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Stuck, on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H. C. Chambers, of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was in the family lot at Morrison.

All the children were present at the funeral excepting two, Mrs. Walker, of Sioux City, who was detained by illness, and Mrs. Neilsen, of Idaho, who was unable to come owing to distance.
