Mrs. H. P. Smit Died Saturday

Mrs. H. P. Smit died at her home in Holland last Saturday. Six years ago she was seriously sick with pneumonia and she never regained her former good health and strength. The cause of her death was due to anemia. She was confined to her bed but a few days before the end came.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. E. Drake were held at the Colfax township Presbyterian church of which Mrs. Smit had for many years been a member. Burial was made in the cemetery at Holland.

Mrs. Smit would have been 66 years old had she lived a few weeks longer. She was born in Germany and came to this country with her folks when she was a child. The family came to this county in an early day. Mr. and Mrs. Smit were married here and excepting a few years that they resided in South Dakota they made their home here continually. They left the farm about ten years ago and since that time they made their home in town.

Mrs. Smit is survived by her husband, five children, and by two sisters. The children are Mrs. Will Itzen, Will Smit, Mrs. Will Engelkes and Henry and George Smit. The sisters are Mrs. H. H. Frerichs of this place and Mrs. Ben Buus of Lennox, South Dakota.
