Mrs. Syndergaard Dies Sunday At Cedar Falls
Mrs. Niels C. Syndergaard who for many years resided on a farm in Fairfield township, died at her home in Cedar Falls early Sunday morning. She had been in failing health several months. She was 74 years old.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Fredsville at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Stub. Burial was in the Fredsville cemetery.
Was Native Of Fairfield Twp.
Mrs. Syndergaard was born and grew up on a farm in Fairfield township. Her maiden name was Mary Boysen. She was born Feb. 9, 1877. On Oct. 24, 1898, she and Niels Syndergaard were married at the church at Fredsville. They began housekeeping on a Fairfield township farm where they lived until 15 years ago, when they moved to Dallas Center. Last fall they returned to make their home in Cedar Falls.
Mrs. Syndergaard is survived by her husband, five daughters and three sons. They include Mrs. Agnes Johnson of Dike, Mrs. Harry Thuesen of Fredsville, Mrs. A. E. Nerison of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Donald Fish of Maynard, Mrs. Joseph Cerwinske of Dallas Center, John of Royal, Edward of Hillsdale, Wis., and Earl of 903 Iowa Street, Cedar Falls.
Daughter Was 4-H Health Champion
In 1931 Mr. and Mrs. Syndergaard's daughter, Marian, was named National 4-H Health Champion at the International Livestock show. Marion is now Mrs. Donald Fish and she is the mother of five children.
There are 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one sister and a brother: Mrs. Ole Krog of Cedar Falls, and Edward Boysen of Dike.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Mrs. Syndergaard was a lifelong member of the Fredsville Lutheran church and for many years taught a Sunday school class there.
