Mrs. John Sherratt Dies At Reinbeck

Mrs. Martha E. Sherratt died Saturday night at her home in Reinbeck. She was afflicted with cancer for three months, which was the cause of her death.

Funeral services were held in the French funeral home in Reinbeck at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery. Her husband died eight years ago. She would have been 71 years old next April.

Mrs. Sherratt's maiden name was Martha Bockes. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bockes. She was born on a farm in Palermo township and lived there until she was married to John Sherratt December 2, 1897. Following their marriage they lived in Black Hawk county. Ten years ago they moved to Reinbeck where Mr. Sherratt engaged in the jewelry business until his death.

Surviving are one son, Dr. D. J. Sherratt, Marshalltown; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Brissey, Albany, California, and Mrs. Leslie Johnson, Cedar Falls. There are two surviving sisters and two surviving brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Lucinda Mast, Conrad, and Mrs. M. L. Johnson, Grundy Center. The brothers are R. F. and Harvey Bockes, Grundy Center.
