James W. Mitchell was born in Bath county, Kentucky, July 23, 1834 and died February 3, 1900, aged 65 years, 6 months and 10 days. On February 15, 1859, he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy E. Flora. Twelve children were born to them, nine of whom still survive, all of which were present except one daughter who lives in Kansas. Mr. Mitchell united with the Christian church in early age. Rev. W. R. McCrea of the Christian church at Liscomb, preached a very fine, comforting sermon taking as his text Rom. 8, 16-17.
