Tjark Johnson passed away at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd, after a short sickness with pneumonia. He was taken to his bed on Saturday and he grew rapidly worse until the end came the following Tuesday. He was 76 years old and was a native of Germany. During the past twenty-six years he served as janitor of the Bode church a short distance west of Wellsburg. Everyone in his neighborhood knew and respected and trusted him and the community that he served faithfully so long are grieved over his passing.

Mr. Johnson was never married. He lived in a small house by himself near the church. He has one surviving sister who lives at Buffalo Center.

Funeral services conducted by the local pastor, Rev. H. C. Bode, were held at the church Thursday afternoon.
