Yvonne H. Sharp, 83 of Grundy Center, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. Visitation will be on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Engelkes – Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to Yvonne's family.

Yvonne was born July 18, 1927, in Grundy Center, Iowa the daughter of Peter T. and Sene (Bonk) Huisman. She grew up in the Grundy Center area and attended schools and graduated from Grundy Center High school. Yvonne met her husband-to-be at the Merry May Café in Grundy Center where she worked for George Robert Sharp. They were united in marriage on June 22, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Four sons were born to this union, Bill, Jerry, Jay and Greg. Yvonne and George later owned and operated Sharp Plumbing and Heating until George's retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. But most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Yvonne was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Sharp and friend Patty Lilland of Thornton, CO, Jerry Sharp and his wife, Nancy of Grundy Center, Jay Sharp and his wife, Marlys of Wake Forest, NC, Greg Sharp and his wife, Lori of Grundy Center; 6 grand-children, Shane Sharp of Grundy Center, Travis Sharp of Cedar Falls, Ashley Sharp of Cedar Rapids, Jillian Sharp of Iowa City, Brandon Sharp and Drew Sharp both of Grundy Center; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Peters-Sharp and Keely Sharp Hanrahan.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George on August 24, 1999; sister, Lillian Launstein; brother, Lester Huisman; and by a sister in infancy.
