Paul E. Slinker, 85 of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday April 4, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Paul was born September 7, 1925 on the family farm in Grundy County, the son of Herbert and Lucy (Hartman) Slinker. Paul graduated from Grundy Center High School. He was a lifelong farmer in Grundy County. Paul was united in marriage to Thelma Geerdes on December 17, 1945. They welcomed four children into their family. He was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Paul was a board member of the Grundy County School Board, a REC Director and was very active with the Meals on Wheels program for over 20 years.

Paul is survived by his wife Thelma; children Steven Slinker (Shelley Wade), Marijo (Joe) Keller, Donna (Michael) Ashcraft and Earl (Jeanette) Slinker; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Gladys Eckhoff and Vera Ackerman and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; brother Virgil Slinker and sister Lois Buskohl.
