Dean H. Robertson, 83 of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital while under the care of Iowa Hospice. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24th at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center. A funeral service and burial will be held privately by the family. Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice.

Dean was born in Eldora, Iowa on December 6, 1928 the son of Fred and Elsie (Bahr) Robertson. He was raised in Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School in 1948. He served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to Iowa and was united in marriage to Joyce Kiewiet on November 9, 1953. They enjoyed 68 years together and welcomed 2 children into their family. Together they made their home in Grundy Center. Dean worked as a long haul truck driver his entire career.

Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed building model airplanes. Dean was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center.

Dean is survived by his wife Joyce; children Laura (Mike) Allen of Montezuma, Iowa and Randall (Linda) Robertson of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Nathan (Suzie) Allen, Jenah Harris-Jones (Ryan Jones), Christopher Robertson, Derrick Robertson, Bryant (Nikki) Robertson, Chelsey Robertson, Jori Robertson and a great-granddaughter Brianna Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
