Anne H. Beckman 89, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, September 05, 2012 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care; while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Anne was born on February 12, 1923 in Ostfriesland Germany, the daughter of Henry and Grace Ehmen. On October 24, 1924 she moved to America with her parents and lived near Kamrar, Iowa. The family then moved to a farm in Grundy County. Anne was united in marriage to Harold Beckman on March 21, 1946. They made Grundy Center their home for the rest of their lives. Anne was employed at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

Anne was an active member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Bethany Presbyterian Women's Association. Anne was a member of the Ostfriesland Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to crochet and in her earlier years Anne enjoyed gardening. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family.

Anne is survived by her children Diane (Bill) Barger of Missouri City, TX and Steve (Elizabeth) Beckman of Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren Matthew (Dana) Barger, Michael (Karen) Barger and Tiffany (Jeff) Allbee and six great-grandchildren; brothers Harold (Mavis) Ehmen of Grundy Center, IA and Ben (Jeanette) Ehmen of Lexington, KY and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; two brothers and two sisters.
