Richard Donald Mumm, 87, of Hudson, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 22, 2012, at Hudson United Methodist Church, Hudson, Iowa, with Pastors Marvin and Carolyn Cleair officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, October 21, 2012, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. With a Masonic Service conducted by Coin Lodge #394 of Reinbeck at 5:45 P.M Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Coin Lodge #394 in Reinbeck or Hudson United Methodist Church in Hudson.

Richard was born July 24, 1925 near Voorhies, Iowa in Black Hawk County, the son of Charles and Bertha (Mastain) Mumm. He attended school in Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1942. After graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Upon his return home he started farming. On June 21, 1958, Richard married Margaret Stewart at The United Methodist Church in Hudson. He farmed most of his adult life when he retired he became an avid woodworker. He enjoyed making many wood projects for his grandchildren and friends.

Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hudson and a member of Coin Lodge #394 in Reinbeck.

He is survived by his wife Margaret of Hudson; children, Ronn Mumm and wife Debbie of Hudson, Jan Wical and her husband Steve of Grundy Center, Marty Mumm and his wife Amy of Clinton, WI; seven grandchildren, Amanda(Mike) Nelsestuen, Renee (Pat) Messmore, Matt Wical, Kelsey Mumm, Kennedy Mumm, Korrie Mumm; three great-grandchildren, Page and Ryder Messmore and Camden Nelsestuen; three sisters, LaVonne Kerr, Marlys Keith, Charlene Begley; three brothers, John Mumm, Wilbur Mumm and Garry Mumm,

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Page Ashley, and three brothers, Leonard Mumm, Kenneth Mumm and Raymond Mumm.
