Patrick Connell Passes Away

Death Came to His Relief at Noon on Wednesday

Patrick Connell, aged 80 years, passed away at about the noon hour on Wednesday of this week at the home of his brother, James Connell, in this city.

Death was not wholly unexpected as Mr. Connell had been in failing health for the past two years, and within the past few days his condition became quite critical.

About two years ago he was injured when a barn door fell upon him, and from that time until his death he has been anything but a well man.

Funeral services will be held from Sacred Heart church in this city on Friday, Dec. 18th, at 10 o'clock a.m.

Obituary of Patrick Connell

Patrick Connell was born in County Waterford, Ireland, March 17th, 1847, and passed away at the home of his brother, James, in Grundy Center, Ia., on Wednesday, December 16th, 1926, aged 78 years, 8 months and 29 days.

His boyhood days were spent in Ireland and at about the age of twenty-one years he came to America, and for a time he farmed in Tazewell county, Ill. Later he moved to Nebraska where he followed farming for several years.

He came to Grundy county and located in Grundy Center about twenty years ago and this place has been his home ever since.

"Pat" Connell, as he was familiarly known among his friends, was a man universally loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a good neighbor and a kind friend to everyone coming under his acquaintanceship, and by none will he be more greatly missed than by those neighbors who have associated with him for these many years.

The funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 18th, 1925, from the Sacred Heart church of this city, Rev. Father Boyle officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery west of town.
