Death of J. A. Thompson

John A. Thompson, son of Andrew J. and Rebecca Thompson was born May 12, 1853 in the state of New Jersey and died August 29, 1925, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Jones, near Reinbeck, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 17 days. When a small child he moved with his parents to Illinois and a few years later to Morrison, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Lillie Thomas March 7, 1882, who preceded him in death 29 years ago. Six children were born to this union, three preceding him in death, two dying in infancy and William Ray in 1908. The remaining children are: Mrs. Ethel Jones, Reinbeck, Iowa, Alvan W. Thompson, Lake Park, and Mrs. Myrtle Lakin of LuVerne, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his departure one brother and five sisters: Peter Thompson and Mrs. S. R. Merriam of LaVerne, Iowa; Misses Jennie and Addie Thompson, of Morrison and Mrs. Emma Bettinger of Minneapolis, all of whom were present at the funeral. Fourteen grandchildren are left to mourn him.

Funeral services were held at the Morrison church Monday afternoon and burial was in the Morrison cemetery.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Merriam, Burt, Will and Allan Thompson, Miss Ada and Albert Merriam and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stevenson and children, all of Luverne, Fay Thompson of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Everett Thompson of Humboldt, Iowa, Mrs. Emma Bettinger, Mrs. Lucile Peterson and children of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
