Mrs. Elliott White

The Reinbeck community was again called upon to part with one of its most esteemed early settlers when Mrs. Elliott White passed away at her home Monday evening. Mrs. White, who had been in very good health heretofore, was taken ill a few months ago with stomach and liver complications and after being bedfast these months passed quietly away.

Frances Ellen Sweetser was born in Portland, Maine, September 14, 1851. When she was a small child her father moved with his family onto a farm near Madison, Wisconsin. In 1876 they came to Grant township, Grundy county, Iowa.

In the winter of 1872 she was united in marriage to Elliott White and in the fifty-three years of their companionship death never entered their family circle. Two daughters and three sons were born to them: Mrs. G. R. Koht, Mrs. D. W. Campbell, William and James, all of Reinbeck and Fred of Montana.

In 1905 Mr. and Mrs. White retired from the farm and moved into the town of Reinbeck, where they have since resided. For several months Mrs. White's health had been failing and on Monday evening, May 25th, she quietly and peacefully passed away at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 11 days.
