Sophia Minnie Muller, 95, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, passed away of natural causes, on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, just west of Fern, Iowa. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, from 4 pm until 8 pm at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Sophia was born on November 9, 1919 in Comfrey, MN, the daughter of August and Gepka (Van Deest) Henze. She attended school and graduated from Grundy Center High School. She then attended Calvin College in Michigan for one year of college and received her teaching certificate. She was united in marriage to John Frederick Muller on March 10, 1944 at the Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Holland, Iowa. She was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church. Sophia played a major role in raising her seven children. She enjoyed reading, baking, jig-saw puzzles and taking bus trips. Sophia's true joy came from spending time with her family especially at family gatherings.

Sophia is survived by her children; daughter Beverly Muller of Chandler, AZ, sons Gordon Muller of Davenport, IA, Kenneth (Cathy) Muller of Montezuma, IA, Larry (Glenda) Muller of Ames, IA, Dennis and Marvin Muller both of Parkersburg, IA and Richard (Jody) Muller of Cedar Falls, IA; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanett Meester and Julia Muller; brother Clarence Henze; sisters-in-law, Violet Henze and Verlyn Henze.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John, and daughter-in-law Janni Muller; brothers, George Henze and Ernest Henze; sister, Ella Meints and triplets in infancy; brothers-in-law, Jake Muller, Vernon Meints and Herman Meester; sister-in-law, Adeline Henze.
