Mr. Roelf Buelthuis, a farmer living about 4 miles northwest of Dike, passed away at the Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown last Tuesday evening at 7:25. He was born at Wybelsum-Hamrich, Ostfriesland, Germany, on Oct. 9, 1865. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Peters in 1889. This union was blessed with six children, three girls and three boys. One of the girls preceded her father in death about five years ago. Mr. Buelthuis emigrated from Germany in 1903 and has since that time lived in this community. He had been suffering for a long time, which grew worse a few weeks ago. On Friday, Sept. 26, he was taken to Marshalltown for an operation in order to gain a permanent cure. He was operated upon Saturday morning, Sept. 27, but was of little avail, for he passed away about three days later on Tuesday evening.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at the Lincoln Center church. Dr. W. Bode spoke words of comfort in the English language and took as his text Hebrews 13:14, and Rev. Weeldreyer took as his text Acts 14:22. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, five children, five sisters, and a large number of relatives and friends. Mr. Buelthuis was a very faithful member of the Lincoln Center church.
