H. R. Johnson Dies After Short Illness

H. R. Johnson died at his home in this city, Monday morning. He was taken sick last Wednesday with a severe attack of the flu and his condition continued to get more serious until the end came. From the time he was first stricken Mr. Johnson had the feeling that he was not going to get well.

Funeral services to be conducted by Rev. Sinning will be held at the German Presbyterian church in this city at two o'clock this afternoon. Interment will be made in the cemetery here.

Mr. Johnson was born in Pitkum, Ostfriesland, Germany, June 7th, 1850. He was married in the country of his birth in June, 1873. Ten years later he and his family came to this country. The first ten years the family lived in Parkersburg. After that time they moved to a farm near Grundy Center. Twelve years ago the family moved to Grundy Center where they have since resided. While here Mr. Johnson followed his trade as a painter.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, who has been an invalid for some time, one daughter, Mrs. Ed. Slifer, and five sons, Henry, John, Harry, George and Louis. All of the sons excepting John, of Brownsdale, Minn., live in this county. There are seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
