Velma L. Heck, 93, of Laramie, died Monday May 26, 2014, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne.
She was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Chickasaw, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Blanche (Tolle) Rice. She was raised in Iowa and became a nurse. She worked in Iowa and Arizona before retirement. She relocated to Laramie in the late 1990s to be closer to her daughter Sharon. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and numerous friends. She married Henry Kruger and, after his death, she married James Heck.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Kruger and James Heck; and daughter Sharon Zubrod.
She is survived by son Gary Kruger, of Jacksonville, Florida; son-in-law Lou Zubrod, of Laramie; granddaughters, Tracy Zubrod and partner Linda Gesell, Jackie Goldfarb, all of Cheyenne, Julie Bandemer, of Laramie, Tara Pressley (Tommy), of California; Yani Davalos of Florida; Ric Davalos of California; great-grandchildren, Megan Smith, of Denver, Jordan Smith, of Laramie, Austin Bandemer, of Denver, Jenna Goldfarb and Michaela Goldfarb, both of Cheyenne, Alexis, Brianne and Stephanie Pressley, of California, and Tyler Renner and Tanner Renner, of Cheyenne. Also surviving are two great-great-grandsons.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be at a later date in Iowa.
