Barbara Hooper, 79, of Conrad, IA, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, IA. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Conrad United Methodist Church in Conrad. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014, at Conrad United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Conrad Cemetery. Barb was born November 4, 1934 to Charlie and Esther Marie (Clifford) Sharp in Marshalltown. She graduated from Conrad High School in 1953 and then received her certificate in Airline Personnel Training in 1953. Barbara was united in marriage to George Hooper on August 20, 1955 in Conrad. She was employed with the Grundy County Treasurer and most recently for Jim Sharp’s livestock business from 1964 until 1975. Barbara was a member of Conrad United Methodist Church, Woman’s Bridge Marathon, and Oakview Golf Course in Conrad where she volunteered on many committees. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Wednesday Club. Barbara enjoyed golfing and playing bridge.

Barb will be missed by her husband of 59 years, George, two children; Beth (Dennis) McLean of Conrad, Brad (Julie) Hooper of Conrad, 5 Grandchildren; Megan (Kyle) Bergman, Marcy (Dan) Spieker, Jake Hooper, Marcus McLean, Katie (Ryan) Rasmussen; 7 Great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Virginia Sharp. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles (Rosaline) Sharp and Jim Sharp, and one sister, Lois Jeanne Plaeger.
