Mrs. John VanHeiden Died Last Sunday

Mrs. John VanHeiden died at her home in Aplington last Sunday, following a stroke. She was 80 years old and a long time resident of the Aplington area.

Funeral services were Wednesday at St. Peter's Evangelical church northwest of Wellsburg. Burial in the church cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George Willems, Ackley; Mrs. Earl Vietor, Parkersburg; three sons, Ben, Wellsburg, Sam, Ackley, and John Jr., Parkersburg.

Mrs. J. Van Heiden Of Aplington Dies At Her Home Sun.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 29 at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Wellsburg, for Mrs. John Van Heiden, Sr. of Aplington, who died Sunday of complications of a stroke suffered a week earlier. The Rev. John Schortinghuis officiated at the service and burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Jennie Bruns Van Heiden was born September 28, 1883, in Grundy County the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bruns. On February 15, 1906 she and John Van Heiden were married in Grundy County and for five years lived on a farm in German township. They later lived on farms in Pleasant Valley Township until their retirement 17 years ago when they moved to Aplington. Mr. Van Heiden passed away in January, 1962.

Mrs. Van Heiden is survived by two daughters, Anna (Mrs. George) Willems, Jr. of Ackley and Alice (Mrs. Earl) Vietor of Parkersburg; three sons, Ben of Wellsburg, Sam of Ackley and John of Parkersburg; one sister, Mrs. Pete Luppen of Aplington and one half-sister, Mrs. Tillie Albrecht of Aplington; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, Bert, in 1958; her parents and one brother.
