Mrs. W. Bode Dies In Mich. Hospital

An account of the death of Mrs. W. Bode, for many years a resident of Grundy county, was sent to The Grundy Register by Mrs. Dan Jaenisch of Clara City, Minn. Mrs. Bode was 84 years old. She died in the Pine Rest Christian Hospital at Cutlerville, Mich., last Thursday.

Mrs. Bode was the wife of Rev. W. Bode, who served a number of years as pastor of the Christian Reformed church at Lincoln Center. While serving as pastor there he organized a Christian Reformed college at Grundy Center. The institution brought many students from a wide area to Grundy Center and the College prospered for several years. It suffered in enrollment because of World War I and could not withstand the financial strain during the depression of the early thirties.

Mrs. Bode suffered a stroke last spring from which she was unable to recover. In late years she made her home with her son Clarence at the Bunde church near Clara City, Minn.

Services were held at the Bunde church on December 23. Burial was by the side of her husband in the Clara City cemetery.
