Henry Kruse, Life Long Resident Of County, Passes On

Henry Kruse, who had been a resident of Grundy county during the past 82 years, died Thursday evening at the Countryside Nursing Home in Grundy Center where he had been a resident the past 8 1/2 months. He was 89 years old last February. Death was due to advanced age.

The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home, where funeral arrangements were made. Services were Monday at the funeral home and at 1:45 at the Colfax Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Colfax church cemetery.

Mr. Kruse was born in Ogle county, Illinois, 89 years ago on February 9th of this year. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Konrad Kruse. The family moved to a Colfax township farm in Grundy county 82 years ago, and Henry grew up there and lived there until retirement.

On March 7, 1900, Henry Kruse and Elizabeth Knock were married. They began life together on a Colfax township farm. 17 years ago they moved to Grundy Center and they resided here since in their home on Bridge Street. They were long time members of the Colfax Presbyterian church and continued their membership, although in late years they were attendants at the Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center.

They were privileged to observe their 64th wedding anniversary last March 7.

Eight Living Children
Mr. Kruse is survived by his wife and eight children. The children are Mrs. Elso G. Groote, Grundy Center; Mrs. Harold Shaw, Freemont, Nebraska; Conrad, Waterloo; Harm, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; Mrs. Chester Brockway, Park Ridge, Ill., Arnold, Grundy Center; Vernon, Park Ridge, Ill.; Mrs. Allan MacNaughton, Cresco.

There are 16 surviving grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. One sister survives. She is Mrs. John J. Abels, Grundy Center. There were ten children in the Konrad Kruse family. Mrs. Abels is the only one of this large family who is still living.
