Mrs. H. Upton, Lifelong Resident, Buried Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Upton, 77, lifelong Conrad resident, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Conrad Methodist Church followed by burial in the Conrad cemetery.

Mrs. Upton died last Friday in the Evangelical hospital.

Pallbearers were Charles Maxwell, Jake Bergman, James Hawn, Theryl Gale, L. C. Pike and Stanley Jennings.

Special music for the service was provided by Mrs. Grant Frier, while Miss Evelyn Stevens was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. A. H. Dielschnieder, Miss Pearl Schultz and Mrs. Willis Duncan.

Rev. H. H. Proett officiated at the service.

Obituary
Gertrude Benham, daughter of John H. and Ella Benham, was born Feb. 3, 1883, on a farm north of Conrad.

She spent her entire life in the Conrad area, except for a short time when she made her home in Minnesota.

On Dec. 25, 1905, she was united in marriage to Howard Upton in the Benham home at Conrad. To this union were born six children, two of whom preceded her in death.

She was a faithful member of the Conrad Methodist Church, and of the Women's Society for many years. She was also active in the W.C.T.U.

Surviving are her four children, Ben H. Upton of Cupertine, California; Helen, Mrs. Melvin Collins, Grundy Center; Ruth, Mrs. Blaine Hawn, Minneapolis; and Artis, Mrs. Milo Wical, Cedar Falls. Also seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sons, Frank and Keith, and one grandchild.
