Chris Muller Sr. Funeral Thursday

Funeral services for Chris Muller Sr., 82, retired Wellsburg farmer, will be held at 1 p.m. this Thursday in the home of his son, Chris Muller Jr., located 3 1/2 miles northwest of Wellsburg, and later in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church northeast of Wellsburg.

Rev. Ernest A. Slottag will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Muller died in his sleep sometime early Monday morning at his home in Wellsburg. He had been in reasonable good health and active despite his advanced age.

His death came as a sudden shock not only to his family, but everyone who had known Chris as a man of highest integrity. His passing is a loss to the entire community.

Obituary
Chris Muller Sr. was born Jan. 8, 1876, in Shiloh township, the son of Chris and Mary Nordmeyer Muller. At the time of his death he reached the age of 82 years, 4 months, 4 days.

He married Gertie Saathoff on October 4, 1899, and the couple resided on what is known as the Muller "home place" 3 1/2 miles northwest of Wellsburg until they retired and moved to town on Feb. 5, 1952.

Surviving are the widow; one son, Chris Muller Jr., who lives on the home place; one daughter, Rena, Mrs. Lawrence Bolhuis, Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary, Mrs. John Freese, who passed away in April, 1928; two sons in infancy; and one brother, Dick Muller.

Funeral Here Thursday For Chris Muller Sr.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. last Thursday in the home of Chris Muller Jr. northwest of Wellsburg, and later in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church for Chris Muller Sr., retired farmer and longtime area resident.

Rev. E. A. Slottag presided at the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Music for the funeral was provided by the church choir, while Miss Judith Slottag was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Henry Maas and Mrs. Harold Geerdes.

Pallbearers were Fred Bergman, Fred Koch, John Frerichs, Ernest DeNeui, Harold Geerdes and Elmer Finke.
