Funeral Wed. At Colfax Church for Henry Schulte

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Henry Schulte, 83, at 1:30 p.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Rev. Gene Straatmeyer and Rev. Lewis Crase were clergymen. Mrs. Gene Straatmeyer was soloist and was accompanied by Mrs. Hiram Dieken, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Alvin Lutterman and Mrs. Jerry Peters. Pall bearers were Harold M. Schulte, Ronald Venenga, Henry Gerloff, Harold B. Schulte, Arthur Neessen and Fred Johnson. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mr. Schulte passed away at 3 a.m. on Monday morning at the Lawn City Nursing Home at Cedar Falls from complications of age. He had been confined to the nursing home for the past 6 years.

He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hero Schulte on March 8, 1884 in Grundy County at Holland. He received his education in the Holland and Little Rock schools. He lived in the Wellsburg area for many years before going to the nursing home at Cedar Falls.

In 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Venenga. The couple farmed in Colfax township. Mrs. Schulte preceded him in death on January 8, 1937.

Mr. Schulte was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian church.

Survivors are two foster children; John Lupkes of Kesley and Mrs. Albert Dekker of Grundy Center, also one sister, Mrs. Tena Johnson of Aplington and one brother, Frank Schulte at the Lawn City Nursing home at Cedar Falls.

Preceding the deceased in death were his parents, his wife and three brothers.
