Rites Held For Fannie Buskohl
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Buskohl, 81, were held Wednesday morning, June 22, at 10:00 o'clock in the Colfax Center Presbyterian church, rural Holland. Rev. Jerry VanCurler officiated. Mrs. Buskohl died Sunday, June 19, 1977 at the L.T.C., Grundy County Memorial hospital.
Mrs. Tom Simms sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone". She was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders, who also played selected prelude and postlude numbers. Pallbearers were John Buskohl, Benjamin Groote, Bernard Buskohl, Jake Walters, Freeman Groote and Jake Buskohl. John Paterni, Harm G. Hook and Milf Meyer were ushers. Floral attendants were Mrs. Melvin Flater and Irene Schmidt. Clarence Kruse provided his car for the family. Burial was in the Colfax church cemetery. Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf of the Bethany Presbyterian church was in charge of the committal service. Friends and relatives returned to the church after the service for fellowship and refreshments.
Mrs. Buskohl was born July 2, 1895, in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Groote. On March 24, 1924, she was married to Henry Buskohl at the Harm Groote farm. After their marriage they farmed north of Morrison and south of Dike until 1974 when they moved to Grundy Center. Mr. Buskohl died February 14, 1976. Mrs. Buskohl was a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy Memorial hospital at the time of her death.
She is survived by one foster daughter, Mrs. Anna Mae Tucker of Long Beach, Calif., a half-sister, Mrs. Ubbe (Jennie) Burg of Elmore, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
