Gretta M. Schafer, 67, of Wellsburg, died July 18 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were July 21 at First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Presbyterian Village in Ackley.

Gretta was born August 10, 1935, at home in rural Grundy County, the daughter of Thomas and Grace (Janssen) Schafer. Gretta lived at home with her parents until moving to Idaho Group Home in Waterloo in 1991. In 1997, Gretta came to live at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley.

Gretta was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg. She enjoyed her brother Richard's grandchildren and she also enjoyed animals.

Survivors include one brother, Richard Schafer and his wife Janice of Wellsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Grace Schafer; and one niece in infancy, Anita Rae Schafer.
