Popular Young Man Dies From Pneumonia
Fred Schmidt died at his home southeast of town early Saturday morning. He was sick only one week with pneumonia. A week before his death he was out threshing. He took to his bed on Saturday. On Monday he became unconscious and he remained in that condition until the end came.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Landsiedel were held at the home at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon and later at the church at Wellsburg. Interment was made here.
Fred was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmidt. He was born in this county and had always lived here. He was a fine young man and he was highly thought of by all who knew him. He was a student at the Dubuque college last winter. The time that he spent there was the only period that he was away from home.
Fred was a little past twenty-one years old. He is survived by his father and mother, two brothers and one sister. The larger number who know the Schmidt family sympathize with them in their bereavement.
