We are sorry to publish the death of the wife of one of our most respected citizens, W. F. Diebner. Mr. and Mrs. Diebner have only been residents of this place for a few months. Mrs. Diebner's maiden name was Lizetta A. Schneider. She was born in Wheatland, Iowa, May 11th, 1870, was married to W. F. Diebner, April 14th, 1897; died Wednesday, March 1st, 1899, at 10:30 a.m. The funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church Friday, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Miller preached the funeral sermon. Deceased was respected and loved by all who knew her, and especially by the many acquaintances made during her few months' residence in Wellsburg. Her sunny smile and sweet voice will long be remembered. Mrs. Diebner was a natural artist, and her home was adorned by her artistic work. It was a home of beauty and refinement and the most beautiful picture of all was herself, as she would glide around those beautiful works of art of her own handiwork. She had been a sufferer from consumption for over a year and a half, but was up and around until the last four weeks. Mrs. Thompson, of Wheatland, a sister, attended her the last few weeks. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the husband, who is left alone to mourn her loss after so few short years of married life. Mr. Diebner's mother and little sister, of Clinton, attended the funeral, and also Miss Thompson, a niece of Mrs. Diebner, and Miss Kellar, of Wheatland.
