George B. Ringena died Saturday in Memorial Hospital
Funeral services for George B. Ringena, 62, were held Monday at 1 p.m. in the home and later in the Wellsburg Reformed Church.
Rev. George C. Poppen officiated at the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Special music for the service consisted of a vocal duet by Mrs. George Poppen and Mrs. William Schmidt. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist.
Pallbearers were Jerry J. Lutterman, John Krull, Jr., Jake Paterni, Wilbur J. Knock, Elmer Ruter and Carl L. Nederhoff. Mrs. Jerry Lutterman and Mrs. Wilbur Knock were flower attendants.
Mr. Ringena was taken to the Grundy County Memorial hospital about 5 o'clock last Wednesday afternoon, suffering from a heart condition, and passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday.
Obituary
George Beekman Ringena was born on March 6, 1898, in Westerhusen, Ostfriesland, Germany, of John Ringena and Marie Beninga. He thus reached the age of 62 years, 6 months and 23 days.Mr. Ringena came to this country on Feb. 16, 1923. In due time he became a citizen of this country. In 1930 he returned to Germany where he was married to Hannah Feenders on December 9, 1930, by his brother, Rev. Anton Ringena. They soon returned to this country where they were engaged in farming, first near Holland, then Dike, then Hudson, and for the last 12 years southeast of Wellsburg.
The family was blessed with four children, Wilma, Mrs. Delbert Ross; Kathryn, Mrs. Carl H. Nederhoff; John, all of Wellsburg; and George of Dixon, Ill.
He became a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church in December of 1948 by transfer from the E. U. B. Church of Hudson, Iowa.
Mr. Ringena was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marie; two brothers, Herman and Henry, who were killed in World War I. He leaves to mourn his wife, his four children, his seven grandchildren, who are Lynn, Bradley and Sara Ross, Michael, Bruce and Kevin George Nederhoff and Kendall Ringena. Also two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Ringena; Gretchen, Mrs. Henry Ulbertus; four brothers, Rev. Anton, John Arnold and Ibeling Ringena, all in Germany.
