George Loots Dies At Nursing Home

George Loots passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, around 8:15 at the Lawn City Nursing Home in Cedar Falls due to cancer. He had been a patient at the nursing home since August 6, 1966. He reached the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 15 days.

He was born April 11, 1882, on a farm in Grundy County, near Dike. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Loots (nee Anna Cordes). He attended the rural school in the area. On March 12, 1907 he was united in marriage to Taletta Neessen. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Colfax Township east of Wellsburg, later moving to a farm south of Wellsburg. Mrs. Loots passed away Aug. 18, 1937.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Albert Loots, who passed away in 1954.

Those who survive are 2 sister-in-laws, Mrs. Etta Loots of Wellsburg, Mrs. Reka Terfehn of Wellsburg and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman.

Music was given by Mrs. Irwin Abels and Mrs. Douglas Geerdes. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist.

Pall bearers were Willard Loots, Eldon Loots, Richard Neessen, Aeilt Terfehn, Fred Ruter and Edward H. Harms. Interment was in the Reformed Church cemetery.
