Clara M. Geiken, 81, of Wellsburg, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Pastor Kevin Van Hooven officiated. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
She was born November 29, 1919, at rural Dike, daughter of Fred D. and Tillie (Buss) Rewerts. She attended country school at rural Buck Grove, and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Frank E. Geiken on December 14, 1938 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. They made their home in rural Wellsburg where she was involved with the family farm where they had farmed since 1948. They moved to their current address in Wellsburg in 1973.
She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church. She enjoyed playing the organ, bowling, taking fishing trips to Minnesota and later in life could be seen walking 30 to 40 blocks a day.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Richard (Marie) Geiken of Wellsburg; daughter, Carol White of Ankeny; sister, Thelma (Mrs. Pete) Evers of Cedar Falls; brother Ernest (Lois) Rewerts of Waverly; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in 1964; sisters, Lena Aukes; Fanny Huisman and Laura Wendt; and brothers, Melvin and Cecil Rewerts.
Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
