Harry George Meyer, 88, of Holland, died December 31 at Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center. Funeral services were January 3 at Wellsburg Reformed Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Harry was born May 29, 1914, in Colfax Township in Grundy County, the son of George H. and Davida (Sonius) Meyer. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1932 and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Harry served his country in the Army during WWII serving in the Philippines, the Hawaiian Islands, Canton Island, Marshall Islands and in Saipan. On February 18, 1953, he was united in marriage to Jennie Nederhoff at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Harry worked as a carpenter and later he farmed near Wellsburg. He retired from farming. Harry was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie; his daughter, Phyllis and husband John Miller of Hampton; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Harms and her daughter Connie and husband Jerald VanHeiden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Alvin Harms.
