Jake T. Riekena, 85, of Maxwell died of a heart ailment Tuesday in Nevada. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell, with burial at Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg.
Mr. Riekena was born in Wellsburg and had lived in Maxwell since 1984. He was a retired administrator with the Reinbeck Schools and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Maxwell, Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the Iowa State Education Association.
Survivors include a son, Ronald of Osceola; three daughters, Alyce Stratton and Shirley McBride, both of Maxwell, and Jackie Chittenden of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. A Masonic service will follow.

Reinbeck--Jake T. Riekena, 85, of Maxwell, formerly of Reinbeck, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa, of heart failure; survivors include a son, Ronald of Osceola; three daughters, Alyce Stratton and Shirley McBride, both of Maxwell, and Jackie Chittenden of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; a grandson; three brothers and a sister; services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Maxwell, with burial in Shiloh Cemetery, Wellsburg; friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, followed by a Masonic service; Mr. Riekena was administrator at Reinbeck Schools, retiring in 1971.

Jake Riekena Services Held
Graveside services for Jake T. Riekena (1906-1991) were held in Wellsburg at 2 p.m. Friday, November 1 following the 10:30 a.m. services in Maxwell.
Mr. Riekena, former administrator for Maxwell and Reinbeck schools, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 29, after having recently celebrated his 85th birthday with loved ones.
Jake was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
He is survived by one son Ron; three daughters, Alyce, Shirley, and Jacquelyn; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jake, as well as all Riekena kin living in Wellsburg, are direct descendants of one of Grundy County's pioneer families.
