Augusta Peters Died Saturday Funeral Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta Peters were held on Monday afternoon, March 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock. Pastor Kenneth Remer of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church officiated. Mrs. Orville Asher was soloist. Organist was Mrs. Lee Pieters. Flower attendants were Mrs. Julia Johnson and Mrs. George Potgeter. Pallbearers were Ray L. Allison, Earl Stupp, Wendell Hoekstra, John Burns, Rex Heard and George Hemmen. Honorary pall bearers were Don Finger, Robert Ruppelt, Russell Holmes, Henry A. Eckhoff, Daniel Lahm and Raymond Karsjens. Interment was made in Shiloh cemetery.

Mrs. Peters passed away around 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 9, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Eldora due to a heart attack. She had been a resident of the home since Dec. 23, 1972. She reached the age of 83 years and 6 months.

She was born Augusta Anderson in Sweden on Sept. 8, 1889, the daughter of Swan and Anna Marie (Nelson) Anderson. The Anderson family came to America in 1896 and settled near Marathon, Iowa. On November 5, 1914, she was united in marriage to Ubbe Peters at Kinbrae, Minn. Following their marriage they made their home in Kinbrae for three years, then they moved to a farm near Wellsburg.

In 1938 they moved to Steamboat Rock where they were engaged in the restaurant business until 1956. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding Anniversary in November of 1964 with their family and friends.

Those who preceded her were her parents, her husband who passed away July 20, 1971, two daughters Ruby and Viola, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Anna Marie, Mrs. Harry Pixler of Steamboat Rock; one brother, Walter Anderson of Dundee, Minn.; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
