Mrs. Anna Meyer passed away around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center following a lingering illness. She had been taken to the hospital three weeks ago for treatment. She reached the age of 73 years, 9 months and 5 days.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, September 17, 1966 at 1:45 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Luwe sang two duet numbers accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen. Mrs. Clarence Beecroft was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Harm C. Meyer, Mrs. Tielko H. Bunger and Mrs. John Boekhoff Jr. Pall bearers were Kenneth Dilly, Mayo Tjaden, John O. Tjaden, John T. Riekena, Woodrow Lindaman and Martin Kasischke. Interment was made in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Mrs. Meyer was born Anna Tjaden to Mr. and Mrs. John Tjaden in Wellsburg on December 9, 1892. She received her education in the Wellsburg Public School. On June 16, 1915 she was united in marriage to Albert W. Meyer. This union was blessed with one son, Alan Wallace Meyer. Following their marriage they lived on a farm west of Wellsburg. Later they moved to a farm south of Wellsburg and in 1938 moved to a farm north of Wellsburg. In 1939 they retired and moved to Wellsburg. Mr. Meyer passed away on April 29, 1961.
She made Confession of her faith in Christ and was baptized on October 9, 1919 at the first worship service and organizational meeting of the Second Christian Reformed Church this making her a charter member. She was a charter member of the Willing Workers Society and was a faithful member as long as her health permitted.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents, her husband, 1 brother, Meint Tjaden, a sister, Pearl and one sister in infancy.
Those who survive are a son, Alan Wallace Meyer of Merritt Island, Florida; 2 granddaughters; Suzanne and Bette Meyer of Merritt Island, Florida; one brother, Otta Tjaden of Wellsburg; two sisters, Elsie, Mrs. Ben Peters of Wellsburg; Minnie, Mrs. Shirley Dilly of Aplington.
