Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg on Monday, July 17, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Max Zschiegner officiating.

Mrs. Eleanor Harms played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Robert Murra, Lowell Riekena, Leon Harms, Robert Teske, Robert DeNeui, Roger Pope, Joseph Yoder, Paul Yoder, Robert Fetters and Norman Tschappat.

Lizzie DeNeui was born May 14, 1905, northeast of Wellsburg, to Ibeling Jr. and Minnie Wiegman Harms. She attended Colfax No. 3 and Pleasant Valley No. 9 schools.

On January 11, 1928, Lizzie was united in marriage to Dickie DeNeui at St. Paul's Lutheran Parsonage, rural Wellsburg. She and her husband farmed on the DeNeui homestead for 55 years, moving to Wellsburg in 1983.

Lizzie was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir for many years. They became members of St. John's Lutheran Church, and Lizzie served on the Ladies Aid Society and was a member of the Wellsburg Senior Citizens. Dickie passed away in October of 1987, but Lizzie remained active in her yard and loved flowers, especially roses.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie; her parents; and one sister, Martha Ascher.

She is survived by one son, Donald, of Rockwell City; one daughter, Mrs. Alan (Iona) Yoder, Story City; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin Harms and Norman Harms, Wellsburg; and one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Vera) DeNeui of Wellsburg.

A memorial fund has been established.
