Harry Duhn, 79, of Wellsburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Burial was in the West Friesland Cemetery, rural Ackley. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers were Ryan Bakker, Leland Gelder, Virgil Murray, Douglas Roelfs, Brent Launderville and David Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Harken, Don Martin, Douglas Geerdes, Edward Behrends, Rudolf Sents and Ron Jungling.

Harry was born on September 1, 1919 in Steamboat Rock the son of Cornelius and Hattie (Baker) Duhn. He attended rural school through the eighth grade. On December 11, 1943 he was united in marriage to Angeline Riebkes in Wellsburg. After their marriage he worked as a farmhand for ten years and then he farmed on his own. In 1985 they retired and moved into Wellsburg. He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and a past deacon and a past member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Angeline Duhn of Wellsburg; two daughters, Sheryl Van Pelt and husband Max of Marshalltown and LeAnn Brewer and husband Dennis of The Colony, TX; three sons, Harold and wife Julie of Eldora, Alan and wife Sheila of Cambridge and Lynn and wife Debra of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Murray of Cedar Falls; and one brother, Henry Duhn of Aplington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Martha Duhn; two brothers, Robert and one in infancy; one granddaughter, Jill Brewer; and two great-grandchildren, Conner and Jacy Grewell.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
