Tatjie Huisman, 98, Is Buried Here Tuesday

Mrs. Tatjie Huisman passed away Saturday evening, July 8, 1978 at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center in Grundy Center due to complications of advanced age, reaching the age of 98 years, 1 month and 20 days.

She was born on a farm in Shiloh township, northwest of Wellsburg, on May 18, 1880, the daughter of William A. and Geska (Roalfs) Ross. She attended the rural school in the area. On March 13, 1902, she was united in marriage to Dick Huisman. Following their marriage they lived on a farm north of Wellsburg. Mr. Huisman passed away in 1942. In 1945 she moved to Wellsburg to make her home. For the past five years she had been confined to the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Huisman was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg having made confession of faith on December 12, 1948. She was a member of the Willing Worker's Society of the church as long as her health permitted.

Preceding her in death were: her parents, her husband, 1 son, Henry Huisman, 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren.

Those left to mourn her passing are: 4 sons and 1 daughter, Jerry Huisman of Grundy Center; William Huisman of Parkersburg; Dick D. Huisman of Wellsburg; Albert Huisman of Wellsburg; (Gertie), Mrs. Tielko H. Bunger of Wellsburg; 1 brother, John W. Ross of Wellsburg; 20 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, July 11, 1978 at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Two duet numbers were sung by Mrs. Ivan Slifer and Mrs. Harold Okones. Mrs. LuRay Neessen was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. John E. Riekena and Mrs. Jack Deters. Pall bearers were Donald Huisman, Ervin Meyer, Dennis L. Huisman, Norman Huisman, Dallas Bunger and Alan Huisman. Interment was made in Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
