Lester Hook Rites Tuesday
Funeral services for Lester A. Hook, 62, of 408 Park Lane, Waterloo, were held on Tuesday afternoon, July 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo at 1:30 p.m. Interment was made in Shiloh cemetery at Wellsburg.
Mr. Hook passed away at 10 p.m. Friday evening, June 28 at the St. Francis hospital in Waterloo of a coronary occlusion.
He was born on a farm southeast of Wellsburg in Grundy County, Iowa on October 17, 1911 and was the son of Ben H. and Maggie Lutterman Hook. He was graduated from Wellsburg high school. On Dec. 17, 1936 he was united in marriage to Fern Heikens. Following their marriage they lived for one year on the Hook home place southeast of Wellsburg and then moved to a farm northeast of Wellsburg where they resided until about ten years ago when they moved to Cedar Falls. For the past five years they have resided in Waterloo where they managed the Park Towers Apartments.
Mr. Hook was received into the membership of the Wellsburg Reformed Church on April 9, 1939. On Feb. 9, 1972 he transferred his membership to the First United Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.
Survivors are his wife, Fern; also one son, Steven, his daughter-in-law, Pam, and two grandchildren, Sara and Polly of Wellsburg. Three sisters who survive are Mrs. William (Grace) Ross of Grundy Center, Mrs. Roy (Alene) Huddleston of Sun City Center, Fla., and Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Ornduff of Kokomo, Ind. One brother, Benjamin Hook of Wellsburg, also survives.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Gerald and Herman, and one sister, Mrs. Sander (Rena) deNeui.
The Locke Funeral Home at Waterloo was in charge of arrangements.
