Vera M. deNeui, 96, of Wellsburg, died December 26 at the Presbyterian Village of Ackley. Funeral services were December 29 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Burial followed at Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

Vera was born November 26, 1907, in rural Wellsburg, daughter of Ibeling G. and Minnie (Wiegman) Harms. Vera attended country school in rural Grundy County. On March 14, 1934, Vera was united in marriage to Ernest deNeui at the parsonage of St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg. Together, she and Ernest farmed in rural Wellsburg for 47 years. Vera loved farming and took an active part in it. She especially loved harvest time. In 1981, they moved off the farm and into Wellsburg. Vera's husband, Ernest, died on February 20, 2001.

Vera was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg where she had sung in the church choir. She loved to sing and to crochet.

She is survived by two daughters, Eileen Murra and her husband Robert of Wellsburg and Velma Hippen and her husband Roger of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents; two sisters, Martha Ascher and Lizzie deNeui; and two brothers, Alvin Harms and Norman Harms.
