Mrs. Libby Brown Dies; Came Here In Covered Wagon

Mrs. Elizabeth Brown died at her home in Grundy Center on Monday, following an illness that covered a period of nearly two years. She would have been 71 years old had she lived until the last day of the year.

Funeral services were held at the home at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Bird, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was beside the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Brown, daughter of James and Susan Cowie, was born near Rockford, Ill., Dec. 31, 1867. At the age of 3 she came with her parents in a covered wagon to the home place near Holland.

She attended the public schools at Grundy Center and also spent one year at Cornell college, Mt. Vernon. For a number of years she taught in the rural schools.

Dec. 12, 1893, she was married to Robert Brown. To this union were born four children: Harold B., Grundy Center; Inez, who died in infancy; Horace D., Dike; Glenn R., Grundy Center.

They resided on a farm southwest of Grundy Center until the death of the husband and father in 1916. Eighteen years ago she moved to her present home in Grundy Center.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Methodist church of Grundy Center.

She leaves to mourn besides her three children, two brothers, Albert S. and Edmond Cowie, and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Brown, and two granddaughters.

Mrs. Brown was universally loved and respected by everyone who knew her, and her death has brought sorrow to her many friends and loved ones.
