Katie Harms Services Held

Katie Harms, 88, of Wellsburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton of natural causes.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Wellsburg with burial following in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Katie was born on June 17, 1908, at Holland, the daughter of John and Jennie Heronimus Hoodjer. She grew up in the Holland area and attended school there. On June 24, 1926, she was united in marriage to John Harms in Grundy County. During their marriage they lived in the Wellsburg, Steamboat Rock, Kanawha, Ackley and Sheffield areas. In 1966, they retired in Wellsburg. On October 16, 1968, John preceded Katie in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, four daughters, Deloris Cunningham and her husband Orrin of Hansell, Caroline Kruse and her husband Willie of Lone Rock, Imogene Furman and her husband Dale of Bradford and Sharon Aalfs of Coulter; four sons, John Ervin of Osage, Gene of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Wendell of Anaheim, California, and Roger of Indianola; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; 2 sisters; 1 son; 4 grandchildren; and 1 son-in-law.

Katie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Wellsburg.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
